Great
Northern is one of the most popular legumes.
Its bland flavor is excellent
base for distinctive herbs and seasonings.
RECIPE
BEANS WITH SWEET-SOUR SAUCE:
1/2 lb great northern beans*, cooked,
drained
1 c. bean liquid
1 onion chopped
1 1/2 T canola oil
1 1/2 T whole wheat flour *
2 T cane juice crystal*
2 T sorghum*
1/4 t sea salt
2 t. vinegar
In skillet sauté onion in oil.
Add flour and lightly brown.
Gradually
add sugar, sorghum, salt and vinegar.
Stir til blended.
Gradually add bean
liquid.
Bring to boil and cook together a few minutes.
Pour over hot beans
and serve.
